Our yard backs up to a field and wooded area and over the past couple of years we've started having issues with foxes and field mice and since we have 2 very curious Golden Retrievers I knew we couldn't set up traps or poison so I decided to give this a try. When it arrived I was easily able to set it up and figure out how it worked, I love that it's so easy to move around to different areas of my yard depending on need. You have the option of ultrasonic sound or audible, I'm still going back and forth between the 2 options trying to see what works best for us. The unit comes with 4 rechargeable batteries but is ultimately solar powered, all you need to do is install the batteries, secure the back with the enclosed screws and then let unit sit in direct sunlight for about 2 days to get its initial charge. I was initially concerned that the ultrasonic sound waves would bother the dogs but they don't seem to bother with it and since we put it out in our yard a little over a week ago I haven't seen any mice near our trash shed and the foxes haven't been stealing the dogs tennis balls anymore. The motion sensor detects movement and the light immediately goes on (very bright I might add) and between the 2 it seems we are winning the battle.
