Last year I purchased the Serene Life Portable Electric10,000 BTU Unit, hoping to find a reliable and efficient cooling solution for my condo. Unfortunately, my experience with this unit has left me disappointed.

Firstly, the noise level is a major concern. The product claims to have an operating noise level of 52-56 dBa, but in reality that's from a 10-foot distance. Near the A/C it consistently exceeded 60 dBa, and is mostly produced by the compressor. The noise was disruptive and made it difficult to concentrate or relax in the room. If you are sensitive to noise or require a peaceful environment, this unit may not be suitable for you.

Additionally, the energy efficiency of this air conditioner falls short of expectations. The exhaust design requires the cooled air in the room to be sucked out, creating a vacuum inside. This not only leads to a less efficient cooling process but also causes the unit to work harder, consuming more energy.

Another drawback of this unit is the issue with the exhaust tube. The tube becomes hot during operation, which not only adds to the overall heat in the room but also poses a potential safety hazard. I found myself constantly worrying about accidentally touching the hot tube or having it come into contact with flammable objects.

Moreover, the installation process was cumbersome and costly. The unit requires a custom-fitted plexiglass to be installed in the window frame, which adds to the overall expense. It would have been more…

I purchased this unit to cool my livingroom/kitchen area during temps of 110+ in AZ this summer. My insulation isn't very good in this area of my house, and this portable A/C does a decent job in close proximity to it and, over time, the larger area becomes comfortable. I believe this would be extremely efficient in a room the size of a bedroom. It has a clean and attractive style.

I got it primarily for the AC. It's about as noisy as a fan on high. All the functionality can be accessed with the remote. I did have an issue with the plug. The GFCI didn't trip and the plug failed. Registered it and left a message with the manufacturer but no answer yet. I originally thought it was a power surge but now I think it might be a manufacturing error. Ordered a replacement plug. They are slightly different, color and small spec increase, but they come from the same company. I noticed that the new one has the ground marked to the right while the original had the ground wire in the center. After a simple replace a rewire It's running fine so far. Keep an eye on it and don't leave it running unattended. If the energy efficiency is decent and the heater works just as well I might buy another one for the winter.
